IT Woman of the Year Nominee:
Julie Buehler
Deputy CIO,
University of Rochester

Julie Buehler is the Deputy CIO for the University of Rochester. Julie regularly collaborates with the University community and business partners to develop organization-wide information technology strategy, policy and programs. She is often consulted on change management issues. Her broad day to day responsibilities include serving as the liaison to the President's Office on technology initiatives as well as oversight of University Information Technology finance, administration, facilities, communications and retail operations. Her recent areas of interest include evolving vendor partnerships to better support research, advancing organizational development with a focus on diversity, improving institution-wide electronic communications and growing partnership between higher-education Finance and IT communities. Julie came to the University over 19 years ago and has held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility spanning Audit, Finance and Information Technology.
Julie is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a master's degree in Business Administration from the Simon School at the University of Rochester. She participates in several information technology and leadership organizations including: EDUCAUSE, New York State Higher Education CIOs, and National Association for College and University Business Officers. She has served on EDUCAUSE Program and Current Issues Committees. She also co-hosted the 2008 NYS Higher Education CIO conference. Julie enjoys partnering with others to grow leadership skills. She is currently pursuing certification as a Leadership Coach. She presents on topics ranging from technology expectations to staff development.
Julie is a Rochester native and enjoys serving the community with her family through a variety of charitable activities. She served as a Compeer volunteer for over ten years and currently holds the role of Treasurer for her church.
