IT Woman of the Year Nominee:
Linda Salpini
Sr. Vice President of Finance & Corporate Controller ,
Pictometry

Linda Salpini is the Sr. Vice President of Finance & Corporate Controller for Pictometry. She has played a critical role in nearly every aspect of developing Pictometry's proprietary technology into the marketable solution it is today. Through her dedication and expertise in finance and the management of organizational data and processes, she has helped the company create its lean, competitive and flexible platforms for growth. Most notably, her efforts helped to build -- and continue to support -- the company's explosive growth which began with a handful of employees nearly a decade ago and has grown to include over 200 employees today.
Linda's efforts have also helped to pave the way for the evolution of Pictometry's innovative patented image capture technology from its beginnings as a software solution to its latest capability of offering image solutions online. Recognized as a highly effective entrepreneurial company, Pictometry has become one of the leading companies in Rochester and the world-wide leader in oblique imagery offering advanced solutions to users in government and commercial industries around the world.
Understanding Pictometry's process needs is what Linda does best. Linda has been involved in all procurement of hardware and software systems in the company. All operational procedures that touch accounting or administration are either created by or vetted through Linda. She is responsible for making sure that all relevant data is captured by the accounting department and administrative departments. Her forward-thinking and extraordinary ability to plan and execute have helped Pictometry plan for rapidly increasing data management needs as well as rapidly expanding network needs. With a national library containing millions of high resolution images, it is quite possible that Pictometry's data storage needs far exceed the needs of most companies in the U.S. Linda's efforts enable the company to manage these needs with vendors of increasing capacity. Currently, Pictometry storage needs represent 1.2 Petabytes of information and will continue to increase annually.
Linda was the main player in setting up Pictometry's initial accounting platform and practices then managed the overhaul of those processes in 2004. Today, she continues to steer those efforts and has built a platform from which the company can work effectively to manage a myriad of tax structures from county customers across America. She played a crucial role in helping the company select and develop a customer relations management system called Soffront. The software application has been re-engineered for use enterprise-wide based on various organizational processes.
As one of the first company employees, Linda has been intimately involved in growing the Pictometry workforce. Her focused efforts determined hiring practices and helped establish an online payroll system. As a technology company, more than half of Pictometry's hiring needs fall into two, technology based categories: image processing and engineering. Of the remaining positions needed by Pictometry to operate optimally, nearly all require some level of understanding and/or experience in a technology field. Since 2000, Linda has established the hiring practices necessary to attract the best candidates and grow the number of women in the Pictometry workforce. Since 2000, the number of women working at Pictometry in a technology-related role has increased fifteen fold.
Linda earned a bachelors degree in accounting from St. John Fisher College and a masters degree in business management from Nazareth College.
