IT Woman of the Year

This award is designed to recognize, celebrate, and make visible the achievements of women in the Information Technology (IT) field. Through this award, women in the IT field are encouraged to stay in the Greater Rochester area, mentor young women, and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Eligibility

Any woman who works with data, processes, and implementation of information systems, including telephone systems, computer infrastructures, applications development, data integration, wireless or mobile applications and devices, e-business, or e-commerce/m-commerce is eligible for this award.

Women nominated for this award must work within the Greater Rochester metropolitan area (includes Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties).

Nominees may be from the corporate sector, vendors, not-for-profits, or educational institutions.

Previous recipients may not be nominated for this award, but previous nominees may be nominated again.

The recipient will be selected for her impact to the IT profession, as demonstrated by:

• sustained contributions to the field
• contributions advancing the status, opportunities, and employment for women in the IT profession
• community service

Nomination Process

The nominator will prepare a descriptive summary of the Nominee’s impact on the IT profession, addressing each of the three categories: (1) sustained contributions to the IT profession, (2) contributions advancing the status, opportunities, and employment for women in the IT profession, and (3) contributions to the community.

• Provide more detail and quantitative information for a stronger submission.
• Ensure the ITWOY Nomination form cover page includes the Nominee and Nominator contact information requested. You do not need to use this form if this information is specified within the nomination itself.
• Please limit the submission to three (3) pages plus the cover page with Nominee and Nominator contact information and the Nominee’s resume.
• Please include a photograph or high resolution digital file of the nominee for use in the AWC-UNY Awards Breakfast program.
• Please mail the submission to AWC-UNY, P.O. Box 23041, Rochester, NY 14692 or submit via e-mail to ITWOY@awc-uny.org. Nominations are due no later than noon on March 31st, 2009. Be sure to allow ample time for submissions to be received.
• All submissions will be acknowledged.
• All Nominees and a guest will be invited to a private ITWOY Nominee Reception held a week prior to the AWC-UNY Awards Breakfast.
• The IT Woman of the Year will be announced at the AWC-UNY Annual Awards Breakfast.
